Life Lately: October Review

SkylarNovember 8, 2019

Trying to get back into the blogging swing, so I wrote up a quick review of the month of October! Brandon is already in bed for the night (it’s only 7:30 p.m.), so I’m just hanging out on the couch writing this up instead of watching a show.

1)The first weekend of October was my last weekend to second shoot (simple terms: be an assistant photographer) at a wedding for 2019! I assisted Cassidy Brooke at her wedding in Devil’s Thumb! Such an incredible wedding venue and resort that is wayyyyy up in the mountains. This is just a phone photo of the view from the balcony of the reception area.

2)For Brandon’s work they did an active recovery hot yoga class one morning and I got to join! I used to go to yoga classes or do yoga on my own more often when I was in college both at NMSU and at Texas Tech, but have totally slacked on it. Even Brandon enjoyed hot yoga, so hopefully we’ll try to go to a class every now and then.

Yes, I’m still coaching at the local CrossFit gym and typically coach 2 classes a day. Sometimes 1-3 more depending on our schedule if things are a little crazy.

3)The weekend of October 12, one of my best friends from ZTA got married in Angel Fire, NM. I was a bridesmaid and Brandon was able to make the trip with me! I took Jaci & Jourdan’s engagement photos last fall in Las Cruces. To be honest I love photographing weddings, but it was awesome to finally be a guest at one and to have the husband there with me!

4)And for the big one! Brandon and I left the following Monday for our honeymoon in St. Lucia! We did an all-inclusive Sandals resort and it was amazing! We loved everything about our trip and I plan to do a full review…sometime soon. I promise! For now here are a few pictures.

I photographed multiple weddings and sessions in September, so most of October I was still trying to get them edited and delivered. Now in November I’m still grinding away at editing! I photographed a wedding in California last weekend and have one more wedding to photograph mid-November. Aside from several family sessions and one or two engagement sessions, by December I should be caught up. Fingers crossed. This is basically what I look like most every day. Just hunched over my computer editing. If you’d like to keep up with my photography work I post alllll the time on instagram! www.instagram.com/skylarrainphotoIMG_80556)Halloween wasn’t really a thing for Brandon and I. No parties. No costumes for us. We did hand out candy to trick or treaters at our house, so that was exciting! I even had to dive into my personal stash of Reese’s pumpkins to hand out too since we had more visitors than I thought.  I ended up going to Denver Halloween night and staying in a hotel to be able to get to the airport on time and get a few more hours of sleep. My flight left at 6:30 in the morning, but to get through DIA on time I was on my way to the airport by 4:30 a.m. If I would have stayed at home then I would have had to get up at like 2:30 a.m. No thanks! Like I mentioned above I flew out to California last weekend to photograph a wedding, so I’ll write more about that at the end of the month for a November recap! But I did post a few previews to Instagram of that wedding. 🙂IMG_7702I have no idea who evens sees or will read my blog anymore, but thank you!! Now that photography is my full-time job, it’s not really the creative outlet that I need so I’ve been feeling pulled back to writing/blogging.  Hopefully, I will be posting more on here soon about either our wedding or honeymoon or maybe even health/fitness things! I know my blogging history the past 3 years doesn’t make that likely, but my goal is to turn the tables on that!

Have a great Friday!!
