July & August Recap

SkylarSeptember 20, 2020

July and August were a whirlwind for me. Wedding photography has been in full swing. Gym work picked up. Most weeks I’ve had to narrow my focus to staying on top of my top priorities.

Photography

I truly missed the wedding weekend flow, so I’ve been happy to have weekends of weddings the past couple of months. July was filled with the second shooting weddings (being an assistant photographer). August I photographed 4 weddings of my own. One was in Mississippi on a Saturday. The next morning, Sunday, I flew back to Denver to photograph another wedding (the two pictured above).

Weekends of shooting mean that on weekdays I been spend most of my day in my office editing away between coaching at the gym. There are moments where I get overwhelmed or feel stressed, but then I have to remember that in March/April being able to photograph weddings and sessions was all I longed for.

CrossFit & Nutrition Coaching

July and August were also crazy with coaching at the CrossFit gym. We’ve had a TON of new people join the gym since reopening in May which is a great problem to have. New people meant scheduling lots of personal training sessions to cover the fundamentals of working out in a CrossFit gym. On top of fundamentals has been coaching normal classes too. We’ve very added a few coaches recently, so as I write this in September my schedule is getting better.

I’ve also continued to work with active people on their nutrition and have really been enjoying it. Fingers crossed you’ll see more food/nutrition posts go up! Can you tell what summer holiday I made those pancakes for? Protein pancakes for the fourth of July!

Personal Life

I took one weekend trip home to New Mexico in August for a senior session. I always say this, but time at home with my family always refills my soul. (Including a mask photo just for the sake of remembering these “masked” times.)

The other time I had over the past two months was spent soaking up evenings and any time I could with my husband. In July we were really into the show, Ozark. In August, we started watching Yellowstone. Highly recommend both of those shows. We too a much needed weekend trip away to the mountains over Labor Day, so I’ll be sharing our trip to Steamboat Springs soon. This blog post isn’t the most thrilling, but trying to get back into the groove of blogging about my life.
