Hello October

SkylarOctober 2, 2015

Happy Friday everyone! Aren’t you so excited that October has arrived?! I know I am.

I’m ready for this hot weather to disappear and the cool air to come rushing in. Grandma sweaters, hot coffee, and leather boots are calling my name.

I thought I would use today’s post to give a little life update.

The previous week of grad school was super stressful and busy, but thankfully that week passed and I have a few “normal” weeks ahead.

My boyfriend was here visiting last week and into this week. It had been a little over two months since I had last seen him, so the visit was much needed!

We went to our first Texas Tech football game against TCU. We ended up having to stand in the rain for about an hour, but it was totally worth it! It was an intense game and I left filled with Red Raider pride! Sadly, Tech lost by 3 points. They face Baylor this weekend in Dallas. Wreck Em’ Tech!!

The boyfriend and I started watching the show Gotham on Netflix. If you like a little bit of action and mystery then I highly recommend it. It is based on Batman, so I had to have him describe who the characters were and what they were like in the Batman series. Regardless of their Batman history, I really love this show and will keep watching!

We went to a museum at Tech that was featuring one of my all time favorite photographers, Ansel Adams. Seeing Adams works always leaves me feeling a bit more inspired and motivated to pick up my camera.

So I convinced my boyfriend to let me take some pictures of us. We went out on a “photo date” with my handy tripod and remote clicker. We had a limited amount of time, but we got a handful of shots that I’m happy with.

Despite him being here I still had homework and work to go to for grad school. So that took up quite a bit of our time as well, but I loved getting to show him around my new town and campus!

I took him back to the airport on Wednesday and I have to admit that I’m in a stage of post-visit sadness. Long distance never gets easier, but it’s definitely worth it (cliche I know).

Anways, enough being sappy. Later this evening my family is picking me up and we’re heading down the road to a wedding for a cousin. I’m excited for a short weekend filled with loving family, good food, and a beautiful wedding!!

How have you been lately?

Any weekend plans?

Aww I’m glad you guys had a nice time! I complain about my “long distance” a lot but you handle it so well with real distance! It makes the time together you do have more special 🙂

Yes our time together definitely means a lot to both of us!! Even if though your boyfriend is a bit closer I’m sure the time you two have together is very important to you!

Sounds like you had a lovely visit! Long distance is definitely trying but it makes you appreciate all the little things that much more once you’ve come out the other side. Have a nice weekend!

Yes, we both have learned to appreciate the little and mundane things that go into our relationship! Hope you’ve had a great weekend!

Long distance is the worst- trust me, I know.
Ugh. Glad you got a nice visit, though!

That picture of you two is great! My husband and I dated long-distance for 6 years before getting married so I know that even though it’s hard, it can work!

Thanks Lindsey! Whew 6 years??!! I can’t imagine that. We’re so over this long distance thing and it’s only been a year and a few months!

I’ve totally been there with the going to grad school away from the bf and having to do long distance and while it might seem cliche, it’s SO totally;y worth it! Also graduating and no longer doing long distance is awesome haha

Awe that’s right I hadn’t thought of you having to do long distance! Yes, I’m sure you both are so incredibly happy to be in the same place!

You and your boyfriend are so adorable together! Looks like a perfect day for a shoot. I need to convince mine that we have to do the same. This weekend driving to Ottawa for Canadian thanksgiving! WooO!
