Currently // June

SkylarJune 3, 2015

I can’t believe it’s already June, but I’m so happy that it is. A lot will be going on this month like my birthday, a wedding, a CrossFit competition, and photography workshops. But before all of that happens let’s catch up.

Today I’m linking up with In Residence and Gold and Bloom for the June edition of Currently.  I’m now home for the summer and work with my dad on our farm, so that’s some background to what I’m up to currently.

Currently June1

Playing// I’ve been playing lots of country music on the radio while driving the tractor. Mostly newer country. But yesterday I needed a change and had to put on some old country like Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, and Hank Williams. It reminded me of my FFA days in high school.

Going// To take pictures of the wheat fields and the cattle grazing. It’s really green around here from all the rain. From past years I know it’s not always this green, so I better capture it while I can.

Wearing// The top half of me that you can see in the picture above is a good idea of what I wear on a daily basis while working for my dad. Jeans, t-shirt, and baseball cap. Other than that I’m in my sweaty CrossFit workout attire. Shorts, tank tops, and bikinis are for those rare occasions when I want to look fancy and head into town.

Sipping// On a margarita. That’s wishful thinking though. I’ll stick with my morning cup of coffee instead.

Reading// I just finished reading “The Bell Jar” by Sylvia Plath. Loved it of course. I’m currently reading “American Wife” by Taya Kyle and am close to finishing it. I admire Taya for being so brave and vulnerable with writing this book. It was insightful and encouraging to get a look at her marriage to Chris Kyle from her perspective and to see how they kept it together through all they went through. The death of her husband and all that aftermath is absolutely heartbreaking. I could go into more detail, but basically if you watched or saw “American Sniper” and wanted to see more of Taya’s view then you need to read her book.

Choose a category from above and tell me what you are currently…

Those wheat fields are beautiful! And I think country music makes for the best summertime soundtrack.

I listen to country music whenever the mood hits. Lately that mood has been all the time!

Yes I did read American Sniper. In some places it was a little dry, but I still loved it. I was crying throughout this book too!

Yay, June birthdays! It’s a good month 🙂 And a photography workshop sounds great – especially when you have such lovely scenery to photograph. Thanks for linking up!

I’m the same way with my coffee. All year round and hot. Unless I get to make a special trip to a coffee place when it is hot to get an iced coffee!
