Coffee Date // Vol. 6

SkylarAugust 28, 2015

Hi everyone!! I know I haven’t been in the blogging world lately, but I think I’m beginning to resurface and hopefully get back to blogging consistently. Grab your cup of coffee and join me for a little coffee date hosted by Jenna from Gold and Bloom. And to be real that cup of coffee in the picture is awful. I only took like 3 sips and then kept it for obvious photo purposes.

Coffee Date August-1

Highs//

I started graduate school this week and I’m happy with my decision to go back to school. I’m going to say that now before I get overwhelmed with class work.

I got a teaching assistantship within the college that I’m doing my master’s in. It was a huge surprise. I just happened to be in the right place and the right time. I think God knew what he was doing when he arranged that.

It’s really nice to be getting back into a routine. I always think I’m a real flexible and laidback person (which I am), but having a routine helps me be a lot more productive.

Moving to another town means having to find another CrossFit box. Thankfully my coach from home recommended me to one that I’ve been going to this week and it’s been nice to get some good workouts in!

Lows//

I spent all week with no internet at my new apartment. No internet means I’ve been living at Starbucks every day this week. I always feel like I have an obligation to buy something too if I want to use their internet, so my debit card is not happy about it. But I got internet hooked up today! Hooray! If that’s my biggest low then I think I’m doing well in life. On the other hand…

Sometimes I wish I was oblivious to the news. The shooting of the tv anchor and her photog is a horrendous tragedy. I cannot imagine the heartbreak that the families, friends, and co-workers from the TV station are going through.

On a lighter note I don’t have many plans for the weekend, but will try to enjoy it before school is in full force next week! Have a good weekend and I’ll see you next week!

Share some of your highs and lows from this week!

Any weekend plans?

Congrats on going back to grad school! I’m going to be honest and say it was the hardest thing I have ever done but absolutely my favorite and the most rewarding achievement I have. I was in love with learning in all of the classes that actually interested me for once (and not just forced on me, like undergrad). Good luck with everything ! I can’t wait to hear more about it!

It’s always so encouraging to hear that going back to school was a good decision! It is nice being truly invested in my master’s classes unlike undergrad!

[…] enlighten me. I saw that Vanessa from I Write About You publishes coffee date posts and so does Skylar from Blonde Freedom, so I thought I would jump on the bandwagon too. I mean, who would say no to a virtual coffee date? […]

Hahaha I made the same comment about switching my major! I LOVED it…before I got bogged down in all the readings/coursework. (Thanks media law). Still such a good decision though! Congrats on getting the assistantship as well! That is awesome 🙂

I feel ya on the internet thing though. I was actually scrolling through Facebook when an article (and video) about that shooting popped up. Terrible, terrible thing to happen :/ Kind of hard to accept that it is the reality today.

Haha yeah I’m afraid I won’t be loving it in a couple weeks. But being excited about classes is definitely a good sign!

Yay for going back to school!! I took some time off before heading to grad school as well so I can relate to the feeling of being back in a strong routine. Now that I’m out, I’ve had to set my own routine. As laid back as I am, I agree with being more productive when I’ve got that routine in place

Having a set routine definitely helps me thrive! It’s always hard to figure it out after a change in life.

Haha.. I’ve totally brewed a cup of coffee for photo purposes before, and then tasted it and it was a bad cup! Oh well, as long as it looks good in photos, right? 😉

Congrats on going back to school! I hope it goes well for you and that you don’t get too stressed out.

Exactly!! No one has to know that the coffee actually tastes bad!

I’m glad you are doing well! While it is definitely hard to leave your home box, I’m sure the new one will be fun as well! A high for me this week is finishing my summer job and having a couple of weeks of summer before school starts!

Ha! I always feel obligated to buy things when I go to Starbucks to read\study too. It can add up on the debit card and the calorie department for me since I am a sucker for that pastry display. Way to go for deciding to go to grad school!

Yes the pastry display at Starbucks is sooo tempting! I usually tried to eat something before I went there, but a few days I gave in.

Ever since we moved two weeks ago, we’ve been fighting with the cable company about either the wifi or the cable being down. It’s so frustrating! Glad you got it fixed though!
