Coffee Date Vol. 1// Highs & Lows

SkylarFebruary 27, 2015

Grab a cup of coffee or tea and join me for a little coffee date. I’ll be having vanilla creamer in my coffee and maybe 1 or 2 girl scout cookies. I’ll be sitting across from you in yoga pants and a hoodie with my lovely morning hair. I’ll share with you now a few highs and lows from this week.

//Highs

I do have school today, but it’s parent/teacher conferences. Basically, I get to spend the school day planning and catching up and preparing for the next month. March is going to be insane for me, so I’m so grateful to have this day.

The CrossFit Open 15.1 workout has been announced. First 9 min of 15 toes to bar, 10 deadlifts, and 5 snatches. Then 6 min to find your 1 rep max Clean & Jerk. I’ll be doing it at my box Saturday! I would be lying if I didn’t say that there is a bit of dread in the pit of my stomach.

I’m reminded how grateful I am that my teaching job is in the creative field. I’m seeing this week how it is an outlet for so many of my students and definitely for myself. I’ve learned a lot this week and am excited to continue to learn this new field of video/broadcast journalism that I’m diving into.

I’ve luckily gotten to miss out on all the snow and freezing weather lately! It’s a little chilly in the mornings, but that’s even comparable to being in the freezing temperatures with snow!

//Lows

I have been soooo tired this week and I’ve even been going to bed at my normal bedtime. It’s frustrating to be tired when there is no reason for it. I guess that’s a part of life.

I haven’t been able to talk to my boyfriend for a week and still have about 21 days left to go. He’s in the military and is at an intense school for 28 days, so I have no communication with him. I’m doing just fine, but I’d rather be able to talk to him.

I’m off to my Friday at school now.  This is my last free weekend here until after April, so I’m going to make it a productive and restful one! Have a wonderful weekend!

What your highs & lows from the week?

    Skylar,

    Wow. God bless you for being able to have the strength to not completely fall apart when your boyfriend is away. I find it hard to go just an hour not talking to my man. Seriously, military spouses/partners are one of my heroes, hats off to you! STAY STRONG!

    Best of luck to you at your CrossFit workout. I know a few people who do it and it’s crazy how far they’ve come in a short amount of time. You’ll do great! Cannot wait to hear about it.

    Have a great weekend!

    I have a week or two every so often that I get super tired like that. I think it all depends on how much you’re doing and not doing (if that even makes sense). I know how hard it can be to go with out talking to your love for a while. I waited for my husband while he went on a mission and it was so so hard. We only got to talk 4 times in 2 years except for letters. And boy did those letters mean absolutely everything to me. Hang in there, you can make it ’till then!

      Wow only talking 4 times in 2 years aside from letters would be super rough! I can’t imagine! Thanks for the encouragement 🙂

    Hang in there! Missing your boyfriend may be the reason you are so low right now! Time will pass and it will be back to normal. Love you!

    Good luck with the Open workout!
    Would you ever consider writing a post about your experience teaching? I’d be really interested to hear more about it!

    I’m sorry about the lows 🙁 But good for you for focusing on the highs! I guess I haven’t been feeling great so that’s a low… but it’s March (almost Spring!) So that’s a high!!

    Ah, Conference week! We only have one conference week per year, and it’s probably the most stressful week ever. I have 26 students, so it is a little overwhleming. Luckily, though, we don’t have another one for the rest of the year! I’m glad you’re able to plan and get ahead!
